Dorothy Skala Alumni Center

Dorothy SkalaOn most every college or university campus there is a dedicated space for alumni. Most of those spaces, are named for an alumnus or someone alumni hold in high regard. Until now, that wasn’t the case at Menlo College.

The campaign has begun to name the new space for alumni in honor of Dorothy Skala, director emerita of alumni relations — Dorothy Skala Alumni Center. Naming the center in her honor enables her legacy to continue with future students and alumni. The Center, centrally located on the campus between the Campus Store and Bowman Library will be a gathering place for alumni. The space has been renovated to be a welcoming and comfortable environment. There are magazines, year books and photo albums from years past. Alumni are welcome to come peruse, reminisce and enjoy the space. We hope to develop other displays of memorabilia to conjure up fond memories. This will also be a place to host events for alumni.

This is also where the Alumni Engagement and Development staff are located. You can stop by for information, updates and to find out how to get more involved with the College.

During OAKtoberFest, many alumni came to tour the Center and share their memories of Dorothy. Many have contributed to the campaign as well. In the spring, with the culmination of the campaign, the Alumni Office along with the Skala Family will host an event to celebrate Dorothy’s life and officially name the Center.
